Australian U20 Women’s squad trimmed to 30 ahead of Southern Crosse Tournament

After a squad camp last weekend, Australian Women's Lacrosse U20 Head Coach Meghan Mollison has named the squad of 30 who will head into the final stage of tryouts at the 2024 Southern Crosse Tournament in Melbourne from 3 - 7 January 2024.

After the October cuts reduced the squad to 44, the 2024 hopefuls descended on Adelaide last weekend for a grueling camp which saw the squad cut to 30.

The 30-player squad boasts a significant number of Victorian and South Australian players with 14 South Australians and 12 Victorians joined by 2 West Australians and 2 overseas based players. From a club perspective, Glenelg boasts the most players with 5 whilst the Williamstown Women lead the Victorian clubs with 4 players, a number shared by Woodville. Camberwell and Brighton boast 3 players between then while Wembley leads the Western Australian cohort with 2.

The squad will now head to the 2024 Southern Crosse Tournament where the squad will be split into two sides to face the New Zealand Women’s U20 squad and a Kyushu side from Japan with the final team of 18 is expected to be announced on 14 January 2024.

The 2024 World Lacrosse U20 Women’s Championship will be held from 15 August 2024 to 25 August 2024 in Hong Kong, China where Australia will be the reigning bronze medallist.
