Club Coach Course - Mixed Delivery

Lacrosse Australia (LA) and Member Associations (MA) are seeking interest from coaches who would like to obtain a Club Coach Accreditation.

To ensure the Club Coach Course is accessible to everyone LA, in conjunction with our MAs, will be delivering a mixed delivery course. The course will be delivered via our online learning platform, two Zoom sessions and then a practical assessment session*.

The Club Coach course will focus on developing effective skills & tools to coach a player or a team throughout a season. Coaches having the ability to identify & provide instruction of fundamental techniques and the ability to correct poor technique. Also, to introduce "game sense" & elements of Sport Science into their training structures.

This course is also being delivered to provide opportunity and assist coaches meet the Minimum Mandatory Coach Accreditation & Training for National Events beginning in 2022.

Course details

Cost : $55 (paid when enrolling in the course) - enrol in the course by clicking in your state: NSW, QLD, SA, VIC, WA

Delivery: Online learning Platform - Zoom theory sessions (2 over a two week period) - Practical assessment sessions*.

Dates: (preliminary dates) 10th of Nov (Zoom session 1) & 17th Nov (Zoom session 2)

Assessment:

  • Online Prior Learning: Coaches will need to complete prior learning (prior to the zoom sessions) through Sport Aus and LA Online Education platform

  • Worksheets: Over the course of the Zoom sessions, 4 Worksheets will be referenced. Coaches will need to complete these worksheets and submit them to the LA Online Learning Platform.

  • Practical Assessment: Your MA will conduct the practical assessment session following the Zoom theory sessions. Once completed you will upload the practical assessment checklist to the LA Online Learning Platform.

Theory Presenters: Glenn Morley, Sean Aaron

Theory Delivery: 2 theory session will be delivered via zoom over a two week period. Each session will be between 2.5 and 3 hours each.

Attendee min/cap:

  • As a min we require 12 coaches (from across the country) to enrolled in the course.

  • There is a cap of 16 coaches. If there is demand LA will look to run a second course.


Course flow:

  • Enrol in Course via the online platform: NSW, QLD, SA, VIC, WA

  • Complete prior learning: Sport Aus Community Coach training, PBTR - Discrimination & Harassment and Child Protection training & Working With Children Check.

  • Attend both Zoom theory sessions

  • Complete and submit all 4 workbooks

  • Attend Practical Assessment session conducted by your MA *

  • Submit your signed practical Assessment Checklist on LA education platform .


Coach Competencies to gain accreditation:

• Identify the role and ethical responsibilities of a club coach.

• Select, plan and organise safe activities and review their implementation.

• Identify the coach’s duty of care.

• Identify basic risks and implement appropriate prevention and management strategies.

• Select and conduct activities appropriate to the level of players.

• Foster an engaging and supportive approach to play that optimises participation for all levels of ability.

• Conduct a coaching session to teach basic Lacrosse skills and tactics. • Communicate with relevant groups


* Coaches from WA, SA, VIC will be assessed on a separate day conducted by their State Association. The details of this session will be supplied by each State Association. Coach from QLD or NSW will be able to film themselves delivering the training session and then submit the footage (and session plans) to LA for a video assessment.
