Call for Nominations to LA Board
Pursuant to clause 24.4(1) of the Lacrosse Australia Constitution, Lacrosse Australia are now calling for nominations to join the Lacrosse Australia Board as elected directors from the 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM). It is anticipated that the Lacrosse Australia Annual General Meeting will take place on Monday, 9 June 2025 (notices to be issued in the coming weeks).
Subject to whether constitutional changes are adopted at the Special General Meeting to be held prior to the AGM (SGM), Lacrosse Australia will be looking to fill either two (2) or three (3) elected director positions.
Lacrosse Australia directors are primarily responsible for the provision of strategic direction to the sport of lacrosse and its stakeholders with there also being an expectation that directors assist in the management of Lacrosse Australia by taking responsibility for the oversight of portfolio(s) within LA’s operational framework.
The Lacrosse Australia board is made up of 9 directors (with the makeup of elected and independent directors currently under review). The exact term of an elected director’s tenure and the consecutive term limits are also set to be determined at the SGM, however all nominees should expect to be elected for a term of no less than two (2) years and no more than three (3) years.
Lacrosse Australia welcomes nominations from all interested individuals and in particular candidates with the following desirable skill sets:
Commercial Experience - Experience and an understanding of business growth, sport development and engagement of participant ;
Legal – Experience in legal practice with an emphasis on the sports industry, not-for-profit associations, employment law and health & safety legislation;
Information Technology / Digital Skills - Experience in IT and/or digital industries with an ability apply new technology to the sporting and not-for-profit industries; and
Education and Development - Training and Assessment and/or curriculum development and understanding of delivery.
All applications will be reviewed by the Nominations Committee with all candidates being put to an election by the Members Associations.
LA is committed to protecting children from harm. Accordingly, we will require all nominees to undergo an extensive screening process prior to appointment. This process includes holding a phone or zoom meeting with an LA representative and go through a set of child safeguarding questions. You will also be asked to provide two reference checks in the nomination form who will also be contacted. Details can be found in our child Safeguarding policy on our website.
In order to stand for election, all interested candidates will need to do the following by 11.59pm (AWST), Monday, 12 May 2025:
