The ALA and all Member Associations continue to work together to monitor the current level of restrictions and impacts relating to the Covid-19 pandemic.

While we all welcome and are excited about the prospect of lacrosse returning in the near future, there are still many restrictions in place relating to community sport and to the wider community such as border closures and social distancing practices. These restrictions, plus the fluid climate and the ongoing impacts of the pandemic, have disrupted and affected ALA’s and Member Associations’ ability to effectively plan and prepare for national events.

Therefore, the ALA, in conjunction with Member Associations, have decided to cancel the 2020 U15 Boy’s & Girl’s National Tournament and the 2020 Senior Men’s and Women’s National Championship.

We acknowledge that this decision is disappointing for all involved in both events however this his decision now provides Member Associations and clubs with a singular focus, and an open calendar, for their domestic competitions and programs. The ALA is excited that the lacrosse community is open to the idea of new formats and season dates for domestic competitions which will allow all members the opportunity to play in 2020.

The ALA would like to take this opportunity to thank all Member Associations, their directors and operational staff, for their ongoing support, engagement and willingness to work through this pandemic to ensure the best results for wider lacrosse community. The ALA will continue to work with Member Associations to finalise the 2021 calendar and all National Events.

Finally, we hope and encourage all members to return to their clubs in the near future and to reconnect with our great sport and the lacrosse family.
