ALA Covid-19 Update - 25/05/20

Many state governments have begun to ease a variety of restrictions including exercising and/or community sport.

This is positive news for sport in general however sport is not back as usual. As you may be aware some Lacrosse State Bodies have released their Return to Play Plans and guidelines to be used by clubs. Other State Bodies are waiting on further easing of restrictions before having lacrosse start back.

It is extremely important that all members and clubs follow the plans, guidelines and information provided by their Lacrosse State Body and State Government. Published Return to Play Guidelines as of the 25/05/2020 can be accessed below.

The ALA’s High Performance program will recommence in WA, SA and VIC inline and following the different state’s plans and requirements. The ALA is also continuously working with Member Associations to monitor the current covid-19 response is each state and how it may affect future National Events.

Finally, Sport Australia has released a Return to Sport Toolkit which can be utilised by clubs in preparation and readiness to recommence sport in a safe manner. Sport Australia’s Return to Sport Toolkit guides clubs and associations at every level to document their own COVID-19 Safety Plan and appoint a COVID Safety Coordinator to implement and oversee it. As part of the Toolkit, a checklist works through practical and progressive steps such as: relevant approvals from your Government and National Sporting Organisation; facilities management; training behaviours; hygiene protocols; management of illness and; communicating these processes with members.
