ALA takes great pleasure in announcing the reappointment of Dennis Mulroney to the role of Referee In Chief.

Dennis has successfully managed this role since late in 2015. He will hold this position for a further period of two years until 31st October 2020. Dennis is a key member of the Men’s National Technical Committee (MNTC) and provides leadership in the area of Men’s Lacrosse refereeing throughout Australia.

Dennis brings to the role a wealth of experience and knowledge from both his lacrosse and professional careers. During his lacrosse journey Dennis played 22 years with Burnside Lacrosse Club and during his time was an active member of the Burnside Management team. Dennis then turned his attention to refereeing where he refereed at the 1998 ILF Men’s Lacrosse World Championship in Baltimore, USA, and attained the role of Head Referee at the 2002 ILF Men’s Lacrosse World Championship Gold Medal game in Perth, Australia.

Dennis has taken an active role in assessing and mentoring both referees and assessors at ALA championships since 1997, and internationally as an Assessor – London 2006, Manchester 2010, Denver 2014, Vancouver 2016 and Deputy Referee in Chief – Netanya 2018.

He has also been active in the area of administration, playing a key role in creating and maintaining the MNTC policy documents.  He was awarded the Australian government’s National Sports Medal in 2000 and is a life member of Australian Lacrosse Referees Association and the Burnside Lacrosse Club. In 2015 Dennis became a member of the FIL Officiating Committee.
