Federation of International Lacrosse seeks Chief Medical Officer

NEW YORK—The Federation of International Lacrosse ( (CMO).

The CMO will advise FIL’s board of directors and committees and serve as the primary resource for expertise related to sports injuries, concussion, medical aspects of anti-doping and other medical issues related to the sport of lacrosse.

Specifically, the CMO will:

  • inform and advise the board and committees on any medical and player safety related issues relevant to the sport of lacrosse;
  • provide oversight to the collection of data related to injury, including concussion, in the game of lacrosse and the analysis of that data;
  • improve the medical systems, policies and procedures in place for international lacrosse, in particular all FIL events.

The successful CMO candidate will be a licensed medical doctor, physician or surgeon in their home jurisdiction, have clinical experience in sport and exercise medicine including working in a team sporting environment, and be able to attend FIL events as requested by the FIL board.

Should the applicant be associated with the sport of lacrosse within their country of residence, a letter of recommendation from the National Governing Body (NGB) endorsing the applicant for the position of FIL CMO is recommended.

Applicants must submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae or resume and optional NGB letter of recommendation to FIL online no later than Mar. 1, 2018. The FIL expects to fill this position by April 2018.
