After seeking advice from relevant agencies including FIL and DFAT, the ALA Board has agreed and authorised progressing with both the 2017 Women's Australian Team campaign to the FIL Women's World Cup in England and the 2018 Australian Men's Team campaign to the FIL World Championship in Israel.

The Board will continue to monitor the situation for both events on an on-going basis to accurately assess any change in circumstances.

AUSTRALIAN PLAYER RECOGNITION

The ALA, in 2013 initiated the recognition of past Australian players who have played in a full International lacrosse competition. It has taken considerable time and painstaking effort to get to this stage whereby some of the past Australian Team players are to be recognised. The 2013, 2014, and 2015 Recognition Dinners included the acknowledgement of Senior Teams (men and women). It was hoped to include Under19 Teams (men and women) and Indoor Teams (men) in 2015 but unfortunately this did not eventuate. However it is intended that this occurs in 2016. Other Australian teams such as Touring Teams, will be recognised in the future.

The past Australian Players who we initially recognised have been given an individual number based on the first team (separate for men and women) they were selected in with this number being for all time. This process will continue for the Under19 and Indoor Teams, with the numbering running separately for each Team variation.

The team numbering will commence from the competitions (International Tests and World Cup or World Series) that effectively formed the ILF & IFLWA and which have now merged into what has become the FIL. Each player will be presented with an ALA certificate with their name and specific selection number on it at the annual ALA Recognition Dinner.
