2016 U19 Men's Team Personnel Announcements

U19 Men's Lacrosse World Championships  

Together with Head Coach Lee Vickery, ALA is pleased to announce the following appointments of Assistant Coaches and Bench Coordinator for the U19 Australian Men’s Team 2016.

•   Gavin Leavy, Assistant Coach
•   Gordon Purdie, Assistant Coach
•   Matt Schomburg, Assistant Coach
•   Kade Robinson, Bench Coordinator
 
The team will compete at the 2016 FIL U19 Men’s World Championship, to be held in Coquitlam BC Canada, Thursday 7 – Saturday 16 July 2016.

Each coach brings valuable expertise and experience to the U19 team.

Gavin Leavy: As Assistant Coach of the 2012 U19 Australian Men’s Team and 2010 Australian Men’s Team, together with 6 years as Head Coach of the Senior WA Men’s team and 5 years as a Head Coach of State League club teams; Gavin is well grounded to contribute to the success of this team.

Gordon Purdie: With a stellar playing career of 17 years in Australian Field & Indoor Teams, as well as Adelphi University, NY Saints, New Jersey Storm, Anaheim Storm and Long Island Lacrosse Club; Gordon also coached Waldorf High School NY for 13 years and has been Head Coach of Adelphi University for the past 9 years. As a long time resident of NY, Gordon remains a passionate Australian with much to offer this team.  

Matt Schomburg: Four time Australian Men’s Team, Adelphi University and Long Island Lizards as a player, followed by coaching positions also at Adelphi University 3 years and Long Island Lizards 5 years; Matt has operated Fogo Faceoff Academy for the past 10 years.  Matt is also a long time resident of NY and is honoured by the opportunity to work with this team.

Kade Robinson: As a player in the 2008 U19 Men’s Team; the 2009 & 2011 U23 Australian Teams and 4 years at Colorado Mesa University, Kade has coached U15 and U17 state teams. Kade has been a Squad Coach for the U19 Squad and is also keen to contribute to the success of this team.
