Australian Womensport & Recreation Mentoring Program
U18 National Championships
AWRA is seeking applications for the final few places in this year's Mentoring Program. The program is designed to assist women to make the next step in their career by developing goals and strategies before formulating them into a plan. The program is suitable for female middle managers and elite athletes making a transition to a leadership role and/or volunteers aspiring to State or National Boards.
The program commences in Melbourne on 5th March 2014, with sessions planned in most capital cities over the coming months.
Neil Dalrymple CEO of Bowls Australia and Mark Rendell CEO of Gymnastics Australia, as well as some of their state affiliates have supported staff to participate in this program, with Bowls Australia hosting the first Melbourne networking event.
The program is supported by the Australian Sports Commission with a small grant from the Sport Leadership Grants and Scholarships for Women Program. AWRA meets additional costs by imposing an individual and organisation fee, to ensure the program is fully resourced and sustainable.
Julie Sarll, President of Gymnastics Victoria and former CEO of VicSport is the Program Manager for a consecutive third year. AWRA Board member, Julie Anderson, who is a graduate of a Professional Development Mentoring Program and is currently CEO of Big V Basketball is assisting with program content and management.
